I'd say it was probably becaue it made you taste nicer and lips feel softer.
Most guys love it when girls apply lots of lip balm because it makes their lips really smooth, soft and moist where as lip gloss in some brands can be really sticky and afterwards make the guy look like he is wearing lip gloss too.
The taste and the fact that us guys look at lip gloss and go ';Ohhh Shiny...';
My husband doesn't like it..
maybe they liked the taste of it?
